New ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Trailer Shows Off Star Lord’s ALF Collection
Have you seen the awesome new trailer for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy? If not, take a moment and watch it below. Wasn’t that great? We know that Star Lord (Chris Pratt) is a half-human/half-alien who was taken from Earth in the early 80s. It looks like his nostalgia for Earth and the 80s in general will extend further than the Walkman he carries around in the film. Check out this still from the trailer. ALF trading cards and puffy stickers? A Troll Doll? Scratch-and-Sniff stickers? Awesome.
If Star Lord had been taken from Earth in the early 90s instead, there would totally be a He’s back, in POG form! joke in there somewhere.
I bet there will be plenty of other 80s easter eggs in this movie, and that just makes me more excited. With Disney owning Star Wars, how could they not have a reference to the original trilogy? He would have been a kid during the heyday of Star Wars mania, and now he lives in space with aliens. I’d be spouting off Star Wars references daily.
Seriously though, I can’t wait for this movie. When I saw Captain America: The Winter Soldier, it was so fun listening to the crowd’s reaction to the first trailer. I could tell the majority of the audience was people who loved Marvel movies but maybe aren’t as hardcore geeks as we are (and didn’t really know who the Guardians were) but they seemed to love the trailer. Hopefully the tone of the movie combined with the fact that people will know it’s a Marvel film will make it do really well. I love that Marvel is in a place now that they can take risks like this.
